ARMY INSTRUCTORS
LIEUTENANT COLONEL
TIMOTHY SCHILLER
FIRST SERGEANT
MARLON RICE
Lieutenant Colonel Timothy Schiller is the current Senior Army Instructor (SAI) at Mililani High school. He has been the SAI since the start of our JROTC program in June 2012.
Colonel Schiller is responsible for leading, managing, implementing the overall JROTC unit program according to national, state, and district standards. Along with this, he bears the burden in coordinating and managing all military service national education curriculum, which includes the preparation for special activities and events to excel our cadets. These roles are only a glimpse at what the SAI performs to ensure excellence. In the Mililani Trojan battalion, Colonel Schiller exudes pride and confidence in his cadets’ abilities.
If you ask any of our Trojan cadets, they would describe Colonel Schiller as an upbringing, humorous, and charming instructor. In all of our special teams and events, he plays a big role in maintaining not only the educational aspect of our training, but also his cadet’s personal welfare. Colonel Schiller enjoys documenting cadet growth with the use of photo and videography.
In the past, Colonel Schiller held numerous leadership positions to prepare him for where he is now. In 1992-1994, being an active duty Captain, he was stationed at United States Army Pacific Fort Shafter, as commander of a headquarters company. His unit consisted of 400 soldiers, where he was responsible for all personnel actions, administration, training, education, housing, safety, maintenance, health, and administration of military justice. Following this position, Colonel Schiller maintained over 10 more occupations from 1994-2012.
Colonel Schiller is married to Xiomara Schiller, who also holds a teaching position at Mililani High school as a Spanish teacher. Over the years, they have had four children; Lea, Brandee, Timmy, and Tommy. When you are walking on campus, you can often find Colonel using his electric skateboard, looking stylish and swift. Along with skateboarding, he finds pleasure in surfing, as he is also the president of the Mililani Surf club. Colonel Schiller’s interests are often implemented into the battalion, as you can see from our participation in AccesSurf (see AccesSurf page for more information).
His military awards include: Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Ribbon, Meritorious Service Medal (5 OLC), Army Commendation Medal (2 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (1 OLC), National Defense Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal (Bronze Hour-glass Device/Mobilized 2 X), Army Service Ribbon, and Army Overseas Ribbon (3rd Award).
